Permaul bowls Guyana to a memorable win over Barbados

A premium bowling performance by left-arm spinner, Veerasammy Permaul orchestrated a memorable six-wicket win for the Guyana Jaguars over host Barbados Pride at the end of their third round regional four-day first-class contest at the Kensington Oval, moments ago.

The host were asked to follow on after their first innings dismissal of 360 runs where they trailed by 188 runs in response to Jaguars’ 548.

Shane Dowrich, on the final day, led the second innings fight with an attractive inning of 65, which included 12 majestic boundaries before his side was dismissed for 232 in the final session, earning a slim lead of 44.

Roston Chase gave the little right-hander Dowrich support with a dogged knock of 68 and shared in a 107-run partnership with him before both men were dismissed by Permual, who snared 4-73 to finish with a match haul of 8-197.

Opener Shayne Moseley (32) was the other batsman to show any fight as Raymon Reifer (3-53) lent useful support to the left-arm spinning maestro.

Seamer, Romario Shepherd (2-35) was also useful on the final day, spectacle to another brilliant captaincy effort by skipper Leon Johnson.

Jaguars, chasing 45 for victory, reached 48 – 4 after Reifer (15*) and Johnson (11*) saw their side home following a mini-collapse to complete their third win in as many matches.
