Pestano’s burst tilts day one Jaguars way

A match tilting spell from Guyana Jaguars’ seamer Clinton Pestano left the Jamaica Scorpions behind the eight ball on 108 – 6 at stumps on day one at Sabina Park, Jamaica in the two side’s eight-round West Indies Professional Cricket League (PCL) Regional Four-day contest.

They trail by 50 runs.
Pestano delivered the goods with the ball to place the visitors slightly ahead following his side’s dismissal for 158 after being sent in to bat.
Anthony Bramble carved out six fours in an innings of 36 while Vishaul Singh (27), skipper Leon Johnson (24) and Chandrapaul Hemraj (23) all got into the twenties.

The Jamaicans were inspired by a fine bowling effort from off spinner Akim Fraser who grabbed 4-69 to dislodged Jaguars’ top order while Jerome Taylor (3-24) cleaned up the tail.

Scorpions, however, were left reeling by Pestano who has so far taken 4-16. His efforts left Jamaica on 30-5 before a 68-run stand between Derval Green (40) and Guyanese Asaad Fudadin, steered the host out of troubled waters.
Green was dismissed 15 minutes before the close by Veerasammy Permaul (1-9) while Fudadin is unbeaten on 31 which brought the curtains down on a day where 16 wickets tumbled. (Photo taken from St Lucia online)
